Rockit!

Capital One Bank's RockIt! Financial Academy is an innovative financial learning program that is made possible by a unique partnership between The Harris Foundation, Capital One Bank, SoftChalk, GameTruck, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas – Houston Branch and Houston Independent School District (HISD).

Program Model

Students work in collaborative teams as they apply math and financial principles to a real-life scenario, all while having fun. RockIt! is comprised of a 12 module long competition based on Capital One's BankIt! Curriculum Exposure to banking professionals and other role models provide the real-world relevance that students need to understand the importance of financial intelligence ("FIQ") and build the knowledge that will ensure future fiscal success.

Financial literacy resources from organizations such as the Federal Reserve assist teachers in bringing the curriculum alive. An online parent component engages families in learning together. Curriculum training, as well as technical support is provided throughout the program.

Parent & Community Involvement

Throughout the program, exposure to bank professionals and other role models provide the real‐world relevance that students need in order to understand the importance of financial intelligence and build the knowledge that will ensure their future fiscal success.

Additionally, resources from the Federal Reserve and SoftChalk are provided to parents to help them understand the concepts their children are learning and increase their own financial literacy.
